OKAVANGO DELTA
FISHING
The Okavango Delta is a paradise for anglers, home to 71 fish species, including the legendary tiger fish, tilapia, and catfish. Its waters share a deep connection with the Zambezi, echoing ancient river paths.
From September to December, the Barbel Run ignites a fishing spectacle like no other—a frenzied feast that lures in Africa’s fiercest freshwater fighter, the tiger fish. Every fly-fisherman should experience this heart-pounding challenge at least once.
March-April brings prime bream (tilapia) fishing, though mosquitoes are plenty, while August-September offers perfect conditions for Nembwe. Fishing is closed in January and February.
To make the most of your adventure on our houseboats, we recommend extra fishing boats—three anglers plus a skipper per boat ensures the ultimate experience.

FAQ
Where is the Okavango Endeavour Houseboat located?
Ngwesi is based near the village of Seronga in the Okavango Panhandle – a quieter, more remote part of Botswana’s Okavango Delta. It’s an ideal base for water-based safaris and birdwatching.
How do I get to the houseboat?
You can reach Okavango Endeavour by road from Maun to Sepupa, followed by a boat or 4×4 transfer to Seronga. Charter flights to Seronga Airstrip are also available for faster, scenic access.
What is the accommodation like?
Ngwesi sleeps up to 20 guests in 10 en-suite cabins. Each cabin has its own bathroom with hot water and a flush toilet. The upper deck includes a dining area, lounge, plunge pool, and bar with panoramic river views.
What wildlife experiences can I expect?
The Okavango Panhandle is teeming with birdlife, hippos, crocs, and aquatic wildlife. While big game is less common here than in Moremi or Khwai, the setting is peaceful, wild, and incredibly rich in biodiversity.
What activities are included?
Your stay includes mokoro excursions through quiet Delta channels, guided birdwatching trips, catch-and-release tiger fishing, and visits to nearby villages for a glimpse into local life.
Is fishing available?
Yes – the Delta is one of the best spots in Botswana for tiger fishing (catch-and-release), as well as bream and catfish. All basic fishing gear is provided, or you’re welcome to bring your own.
Is the houseboat suitable for families or groups?
Yes – the Okavango Endeavour is perfect for private groups or multi-generational families. It can also be booked exclusively for special occasions or peaceful retreats.
What is included in the stay?
Your rate includes all meals, non-alcoholic drinks, guided activities, and accommodation. Alcoholic beverages are available at the onboard bar at an extra cost.
Will I have internet or phone signal?
Okavango Endeavour is designed for digital detox. There is limited cell reception in the area and no Wi-Fi onboard. We recommend letting friends know you’re off-grid and embracing the unplugged safari rhythm.
What should I pack?
Bring lightweight clothes in neutral tones, swimwear, a wide-brimmed hat, sunblock, insect repellent, binoculars, and a warm layer for evenings. And don’t forget your camera – sunrises and sunsets on the water are magic.
How do I book?
To reserve your journey on Okavango Endeavour Houseboat, contact us at res@untouched-safaris.com or call +267 73 894 155. Early booking is recommended, especially during peak birding and fishing months.
